Kung Fu can be characterised as a combination of exercise and spirituality. It focuses on discipline, concentration and fitness whilst also being an unarmed form of self-defence. Its roots are documented as early as 1111 BC during the Zhou Dynasty. A Kung Fu uniform can be known as yī-fu or fú. Training uniforms typically worn for Kungfu can either be Kung Fu trousers with a cuffed ankle or a full suit complete with pants and jacket. There are ten belt levels in Kung Fu where a ranked belt or sash can be worn. The first belt is white until it reaches the highest level for which a black sash is worn.
